Two Japanese navy ships arrive on goodwill visit to Ctg

Two ships of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) Ships JS URAGA (Mine Sweeper Tender) and JS HIRADO (Mine Sweeper Ocean) arrived at Chattogram Port Jetty on Saturday for a goodwill visit, says a statement.

Upon arrival, the ships were welcomed by Chief Staff Officer of Commander Chattogram Naval Area Captain Masudul Karim Siddique.

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki and other high officials of Bangladesh Navy were present during the welcoming programme.

A band from the Bangladesh Navy then played traditional tunes following customs.

Earlier, when the two Japanese warships reached Bangladesh's water area, Bangladesh Navy ship Prottoy received them.

During the port visit, the Bangladesh Navy will organise exchange programmes such as visits on board.

Ambassador Ito and ships delegation members will make courtesy calls on Rear Admiral Mohammad Mozammel Haque, Commander Chattogram Naval Area, Commodore Mir Ershad Ali, Commander Bangladesh Navy Fleet and Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Chariman, Chattogram Port Authority respectively today (January 09).

The Japanese delegates will also make a courtesy call on Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, mayor of Chattogram City Corporation.

The Japanese warships will conduct a goodwill exercise with the Bangladesh Navy in the surrounding sea tomorrow and later leave Chattogram port the same day.
