KHULNA, Nov 28 (UNB): A police probe panel recommended taking action against the officer-in-charge (Investigation) and a constable of Dumuria thana over the death of a medicine trader in police custody.
The three-member investigation committee formed by the Khuna Range DIG office submitted its report to DIG SM Moniruzzaman Thursday.
The probe panel recommended taking action against Inspector Kazi Kamal Hossain and constable Sirajul Islam for their negligence of duty over the incident, said additional DIG Didar Ahmed who headed the panel.
Medicine trader Tushar Kanti Paul (42), jumped off the first floor of the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Khulna November 15, claimed police. He was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
However, family members claimed that Tushar had jumped from the SP office after being failed to bear police torture and humiliation.
