Two killed, five injured in road mishap

SYLHET, Sept 15 (UNB): Two people were killed and five others injured in train and road mishaps in the city and Balaganj Upazila Thursday.
In the city, inter-city train Upaban Express dashed Suhel Mia (30), son of Cherag Ali of Khashgaon village in Chhatak Upazila of Sunamganj district while he was crossing line at the district railway station leaving him fatally injured.
Suhel was rushed to the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
In Balaganj Upazila, a rickshaw-puller was killed on the spot and five others were injured when a bus ploughed trough a small shop at Tajpur area on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the morning.
Witnesses said the driver of the Habiganj-bound speeding bus lost control of the vehicle and ran over rickshaw-puller Abul Mia (27), on the footpath and then rammed into a shop at about 9:00 am injuring five others critically.
Later, police seized the killer bus, but the driver and helper managed to flee the scene. The injured were admitted to a local hospital.
