Two pirates killed in 'shootout'

BAGERHAT, Oct 31 (UNB): Two notorious pirates were killed in a 'shootout' between his cohorts and police in Poramahal area of Sundarbans in Mongla Upazila Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Altaf Hossain (38), son of Adil Uddin and Mizanur Rahman Mizan (40), son of Abdul Khalek of Chandrakhali village in Rampal Upazila. Both were members of notorious 'Raju Bahini'.
During the gunfight two police constables - Nurul Islam and Zakir Hossain - were also injured.
Police super M Mizanur Rahman said 6 to 7 armed pirates sprayed bullets on the police at about 5:30 am while they were conducting a special drive in the Sundarbans.
