Two policemen suspended for beating UP member

BAGERHAT, Mar 20 (UNB): Two policemen of Morelganj thana were suspended Saturday for atrocious torture on an UP member after failing to nab his son, an accused in a theft case.
Sub-inspector Mahbubur Rahman and constable Abdul Barek were suspended and closed to the Bagerhat Police Lines in the evening after initial investigation proved their atrocious action.
Police said that SI Mahbub and constable Barek held Mokhlesur Rahman, UP member of Hoglabonia, after their failure to nab his son Sumon Rahman, an accused in a theft case. They beat him on the way and again physically tortured him after taking him to thana.
The atrocious action of the police angered the villagers who gheraoed the thana in the afternoon.
