BRAHMANBARIA, Jan 21 (UNB): Two suspected robbers were killed and six policemen were injured in an alleged gunfight between bandits and police at Shahbazpur in Sarail upazila early Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Abul Bashar, 26, son of Aktar Hossain, hailing from Habiganj district, and Enta Dakat alias Wahab, 32, a resident of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila.
Police arrested Bashar and Wahab on Friday night, said Officer-in-Charge of Sarail Police Station Mafizul Islam.
Based on their information, the law enforcers along with the arrestees went to Shahbazpur to recover gold and cash, robbed by the gang of bandits, early Sunday, said the OC.
However, sensing the presence of police, other members of the robber gang opened fire towards the law enforcers, forcing them to retaliate that triggered the gunfight.
