Two people received bullet injuries and another was hacked in two separate attacks at Senpara Parbota in the city's Kafrul area Saturday, witnesses and police said.
According to local people, a gang of four to five criminals entered an under-construction area of a real estate company at Senpara Parbota at about 7:00am.
They shot at Abdul Wahab (25), a security guard of the company, and left the area.
The criminals also asked the labourers to stop construction work, the labourers told reporters.
Wahab, with a wound in his left leg, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Within 30 minutes of the first attack, a gang of extortionists swooped on another project area of Sun City Developer Company at the same area and fired at one of its labourers, Uzzal (20).
The gang also asked the labourers to inform their owners to contact them immediately, Uzzal said.
Before leaving the place, the extortionists also injured another worker Anju Mia with sharp weapon.
Both the injured were admitted to the DMCH.
Kafrul Police suspected that both the incidents were committed by the same gang.
The authorities of Sun City Developer Company filed a case after extortionists demanded Tk 500,000 from them last week, police said.
