Two terrorists killed in shootout with police

JHENIDAH, Oct 11 (UNB): Two terrorists were killed in a shootout with police at Kadamdi in Shailakupa Upazila early Saturday.
The deceased were Maruf Hossain (40) of Beparipara in the town and Enamul Haque (38) of Harinarayanpur village in Kushtia Sadar Upazila.
Police said they were wanted in a number of criminal cases, including robbery and extortion.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the police went to Kadamdi on Jhenidah-Kushtia road where Maruf and Enamul along with their accomplices were felling roadside trees at about 2.30 am.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the armed terrorists opened fire on the police who returned the fire triggering a gun-battle.
During the 15-minute gun-battle, Maruf and Enamul were caught in the line of fire while trying to flee the scene. They were rushed to the upazila health complex where the attending doctors declared them dead.
