Members of Airport Armed Police Battalion  (APBn) arrested two young men in possession of 21 gold bars weighing 2.1 kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city early Friday, reports UNB.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Abu Yusuf Bhuiyan, 31, a resident of Burichong, and Masud Miah, 38, a resident of Debidwar upazila of Comilla district.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Asma Ara Jahan said Yusuf and Masud arrived at the airport from an aircraft of Air Asia Airlines from Malaysia around 11:30 pm on Thursday.

Tipped off, a team of the APBn challenged the duo suspecting their movement when they were staying in the car parking area of the airport at about 12:30 am Friday.

The APBn members recovered the gold bars searching their bags and arrested them, the ASP said.  A case was filed against them along with Airport Police Station.
