The University Grants Commission (UGC) approved a Tk 21.788 billion (2178.84 crore) budget on Thursday for FY 2015-2016 for the public universities of the country, reports UNB.
At the 141st full commission meeting held with Chairman of UGC Professor Abdul Mannan in the chair, the commission also approved the revised budget of Tk 20.536 billion (2053.55 crore) for the outgoing FY 2014-2015.
The meeting also approved the original budget of Tk 240.1 million (24.01 crore) for 2015-2016 fiscal year and the revised budget of Tk 212.35 million (21.2350 crore) for 2014-2015 fiscal year for the UGC.
Education Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Khan, Member of Planning Commission (Socio-Economic Infrastructure) Md Humayun Khalid and UGC members Prof Dr Mohammad Mohabbat Khan attended it.
