UK, France assure BD of continued support

FE REPORT
The United Kingdom and France have assured Bangladesh of continued cooperation in its journey towards development amid ongoing economic challenges.
Finance minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said this to the media as the ambassadors of the two countries met him at his secretariat office on Thursday.
After a meeting with British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke, Mr Ali said: "Britain wants to help us to face economic challenges."
"We have long relations with the UK. We are discussing various issues with them," he added.
The minister did not elaborate further for which sectors the financial support would come.
Ms Cooke said she had a "productive" parley with Mr Ali.
"We discussed how the UK and Bangladesh can work together on economic reform issues in order to support Bangladesh to have a sustainable and successful graduation from least developed country status."
"…because we have a shared interest in a prosperous and resilient Bangladesh," she noted.
Meanwhile, French envoy Marie Masdupuy said she had a discussion with the minister about her country's ongoing cooperation.
The discussion included the minister's priorities in terms of economic financial reforms, she said, adding: "He shared with me his priorities."
"And, of course, we look forward to continuing cooperation with the finance ministry," Ms Masdupuy said.
