ULAB launches Massive Open Online Course

Experts joined the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in Bangladesh virtually, organised by ULAB recently

The Centre for Enterprise and Society (CES) at ULAB organised a virtual launching recently of the first ever Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in Bangladesh dedicated to promotion of diversity, tolerance and pluralism, says a statement.

The project engaged various domestic and international academics, practitioners and experts including Dr Tariq Modood, Founding Director, Research Centre for the study of Ethnicity and Citizenship, Bristol University.

The online course will be available on Bohubrihi website, an online education platform based in Bangladesh.

The course comprises 14 open, online lectures that explore pluralism and various dimensions of diversity: religious, ethnic, gender, sexual, cultural, historical and political and has brought together eight experts, local, regional and international, to work on one platform.

Abantee Harun, Assistant Professor, General Education Department, ULAB, Simi Mehta, CEO and Editorial Director, Impact and Policy Research Institute (IMPRI), Farzana Ahmed Julie, MEAL Coordinator, Action Against Hunger, Start Fund Bangladesh, and Fahmida Rahman, Lecturer, Political Science, Brac University are the experts of the project.

ULAB Special Adviser to the Board of Trustees, Professor Imran Rahman, spoke on opening remarks. Associate Professor Sajid Amit, Director, Centre for Enterprise and Society, moderated the discussion.
