Unauthorised students asked to vacate RU halls

RAJSHAHI, Sept 10 (BSS): Unauthorised students have been asked to vacate the residential halls in Rajshahi University (RU) to restore discipline in the residential facilities along with establishing congenial atmospheres.
The decision of freeing the students' dormitories from unauthorized occupations has been taken in a meeting with the hall provosts at the conference hall of the administrative building today.
Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib chaired the meeting.
The meeting also decided that the students from now on will be given seats in the halls on the basis of specific guideline.
VC Prof Saleh Naquib assured the provosts of taking necessary measures for improving the environment and discipline in the halls so that the students feel comfortable.
Meanwhile, the academic activities of RU will resume today Wednesday following an unscheduled closure of around two months.
Prior to this, residential halls reopened on Tuesday.
The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the syndicate, the highest policy-making body of the university, held at the lounge of Vice-chancellor (VC) with VC Prof Abu Saleh Naquib in the chair on Sunday evening.
Accordingly, the departments will restart their scheduled classes and examinations simultaneously.
Apart from this, the admission process in first-year honors classes in 2023-2024 academic years which remained suspended at present will resume within a shortest possible time. Classes for the new students will start from September 22.
Mentionable, the academic activities remained suspended since July 1 as the teachers had launched their work-absent programme to press home their demands for cancellation of pension policy.
