University teachers continue strike for 10th day

Teachers and employees of the public universities continued their strike for the 10th consecutive day on Wednesday demanding their exclusion from the 'Prottoy Scheme' of the government's Universal Pension Scheme.
There has come no visible solution yet; though the teachers and employees of the universities have been observing the strike since July 1 on a three-point demand.
The situation is rather taking complicated forms. Classes and examinations at the universities have remained suspended for several days.
Besides, teachers said they would continue their protests until their demands are met.
Dhaka University Teachers' Association president Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan said they would cover the loss from the strike by taking classes later.
The Jahangirnagar University (JU) teachers also continued full-scale strike for the tenth consecutive day on Wednesday, calling for their removal from the 'Prottoy' pension scheme. They also demanded inclusion in the super grade and a separate pay-scale for the teachers.
