UP member hacked dead in Patuakhali

PATUAKHALI, Dec 5 (UNB): Miscreants stormed into the house of a union parishad (UP) member and hacked him to death in Sadar Upazila Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Nasir Hawlader, 42, a member of Motherbunia Union and also a local Awami League (AL) leader.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Ziaul Haque said the criminals swooped on the house of the UP member around 6:30pm and chopped him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police started for the spot, he said.

The reason behind the killing could not be known yet.
