Valuables worth Tk 0.8m looted in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Sept 7 (UNB): A gang of robbers swooped on the house of an expatriate at Ganapatipur village in Kolaroa Upazila and looted valuables worth about Tk 0.8 million (8.0 lakh) early Thursday.
Family sources said the gang numbering 5/6 stormed into the house of Abdullah Sarder at about 1.30 am. They beat the house inmates including the housewife Kamrunnahar (42) mercilessly and took away valuables including 42 tolas of gold ornaments.
Another report from Madaripur adds: Armed bandits raided a house at village Bakharkandi in Shibchar Upazila early Thursday and took away cash and valuables worth about Tk 0.1 million.
Sources said the robbers numbering 10/12 entered into the house of Akkas Molla at about 1:00 am and looted five tolas of gold ornaments, Tk 13,000 in cash and other valuables after beating the inmates indiscriminately.
Separate cases were filed with the police in this connection.
