Finance Minister AMA Muhith Thursday proposed exemption of kidney dialysis solution from payment of VAT at the local production stage.
He said treatment of kidney disease was very expensive in the country. With a view to reducing the expenditure of kidney patients he proposed it.
He said the customs duties on 14 (fourteen) items used as raw materials in manufacturing of anti-cancer drugs and medicines were proposed to be fully exempted.
Side by side, the import duties applicable to infusion pumps used in treatment of Thalasamia have been be fully waived.
The Finance Minister proposed a 5 per cent cut in the existing 10 to 25 per cent duties on essential raw materials used in manufacturing Ayurvedic medicines.
