The government has filed a case with the labour court against the Tuba Group authorities for violation of law, officials said.
Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) filed the case Monday against the managing director of Tuba Group for non-payment of their workers' dues, they added.
"The Tuba authorities did not close their factories according to the law and also did not uphold the lawful rights of the workers. That's why we have no other option but to go for legal action against them," Inspector General of DIFE Syed Ahmed told the FE.
Earlier on August 18, the Tuba authorities announced their five units closed according to the provision of 13 (1) of the relevant law, effective from June 10 which the government termed 'not proper'.
The government later asked the Tuba authorities to close their units in accordance with the law and pay the workers accordingly which they failed to abide by, sources added.
About 1,600 workers were employed in five units of Tuba Group. They were paid three months' wages after an 11-day hunger strike.
