COMILLA, July 23 (UNB): Water Development Board (WDB) has started repairing the risky points of the 140 kilometres dam on both banks of the Gomoti amid rise of water-level in the river due to the nonstop downpour and onrush of hilly waters from across the border.
WDB sources said the Gomoti River was flowing 1.37 centimetre above the danger level at about 9:00 am Monday threatening the existence of the dam.
Twenty-eight points of the dam, including Tikkar Char, Katak Bazar, Mirpur, Kathalia, Durgapur and Jafarganj areas on the left bank of the river and Kamarkhara, Bhanti, Kahetera, Nanua bazar, Burburia and Baherchara on the right bank became risky as cracks developed on it.
