Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu Saturday said that Bangladesh is now fighting against poverty, militancy, gender disparity and environmental degradation in order to keep pace with the developed countries, reports BSS.
"After achieving independence in 1971, we are struggling in order to keep peace in the country , he said.
The minister was addressing as the chief guest at closing ceremony of the 13th Dhaka International Film Festival in the city.
Festival Director Ahmed Muztaba Zamal conducted the function, while Planning Commission Member Hedayet Ullah Al Mamun and Indonesian Ambassador in Dhaka Iwan Wiranata-atmadja handed over awards to winners.
He said, "We are still struggling against militancy, poverty, gender disparity and environmental degradation."
A total of 20-member of jury boards selected awards on various categories including best children films, audience award, special audience award, best fiction award (spiritual section), special mention, best fiction award (women filmmakers section), best documentary award (women filmmakers section), best documentary award (short and independent films), best fiction award (short and independent films), special mention (short and independent films) special mention (short and independent films) best director award (Australasian competition) best actor award (Australasian competition), best screenphy award (Australasian competition) and best cinematography award (Australasian competition).
Iran completed the festival with six awards, while Nepal and Sweden with two, Australia, Japan, Philippines, Afghanistan, India, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Turkey got one award.
The festival started from January 10.
