Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country in the next 24 hours from 06:00 am today (Friday), according to the Met Office.

Rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Chattogram, Sylhet, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Barishal divisions.

Severe heat wave may sweep over the districts of Jashore, Khulna, Chuadanga, Pabna and Rajshahi.

Mild to moderate heat wave may sweep elsewhere over the country.

Day temperature may fall slightly elsewhere over the country while night temperature may remain nearly unchanged.

The highest temperature in the country on Thursday was recorded at 42.8 degrees Celsius in Jashore and Chuadanga while the lowest temperature at 19.7 degrees in Tetulia.

The highest temperature in the city was recorded at 39.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday and the lowest was 29.3 degrees.
