RANGPUR, Jan 17 (BSS): The weather again marked quick improvement following rise in temperature, disappearance of fog and sunny sky at most places in the northern region since this morning, surprising experts and environmentalists.
After two consecutive days of very good weather, weather suddenly deteriorated sharply yesterday causing bone- chilling cold when the maximum temperatures came down to only four degrees Celsius near the minimum on an average.
On Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 18 and 12.6 degrees Celsius respectively at Rangpur, 15 and 12 degrees Celsius at Dinajpur, 16.1 and 11 degrees Celsius at Syedpur, 14.4 and 10 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi, 16 and 10.5 degrees Celsius at Ishwardi and 17 and 13 degrees Celsius at Bogra.
But, the Met Office today recorded minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius at Rangpur, 11.7 degrees Celsius at Dinajpur, 12 degrees Celsius at Syedpur, 12.2 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi, 12.6 degrees Celsius at Ishwardi and 13 degrees Celsius at Bogra.
Similarly, the maximum temperature also marked sharp rise by four to seven degrees Celsius at different places in the sub-Himalayan region amid a clear and sunny sky since this morning except a few places where the sun appeared from the noon.
Yesterday, the weather sharply deteriorated following fall in both the minimum and maximum temperatures when the sky remained covered by thick layers of fogs and clouds amid blowing strong and cool wind from the north- west.
Following the sharp improvement of the situation, normalcy returned and the people, farm- and day-labourers continued their normal activities everywhere including the char areas in the river basins in the northern districts.
The vehicular movements and activities in the educational institutions, business centres, markets, hats and bazars, river ports and ferry ghats, bus stands and terminals and rail stations gained full momentum today.
