Woman dies as ambulance hits her in city

A woman has been killed in a 'hit-and-run' accident with an ambulance in the city, reports bdnews24.com.
The woman has been identified as Shilpi Akter (35), a resident of a slum in the city's Dhalibari area in Poshchim Raja Bazar. She was the wife of Negabbar Ali and hailed from Mymensingh.
The accident took place in the Panthapath area adjacent to Square Hospital in the early hours of Monday, according to the police.
"Shilpi was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where she died afterwards while undergoing treatment around 9:30 am," said Ganesh Gopal Biswas, acting chief of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar thana.
"The driver fled after the accident. No patient was spotted in the vehicle."
"Shilpi worked as a domestic helper. She got into the accident just after leaving home that morning," the victim's relative Fazila Khatun told the news agency.
