BENAPOLE, Aug 29 (UNB): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Friday night arrested a woman reportedly with 9.2kg gold in the Sadipur border area.
The arrestee was identified as Banesa Khatun, 35, wife of Dukhu Miah of the area.
Tipped off that a consignment of gold is being smuggled to India through the border, a team of BGB raided the house of Dukhu and seized the gold worth Tk 62.5 million, said Lt Col Selim Reza, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion.
Later, the team arrested Banesa in connection with the incident based on Dukhu's reported statement.
