The deceased was identified as Kulsum Begum (65).
The incident also left a child injured who was with the woman.
A police official at Cantonment Police Station told the FE that the fatal incident happened around 10:00 am near the area (ECB) when a running bus 'Bashumoti Paribahan' rammed her and left her dead on the spot.
The injured child was admitted to a city hospital for treatment.
The police official further said that the deceased hailed from Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal district.
The driver of the bus was arrested by police.
The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy after completing legal formalities.
