Woman tortured in Jordan brought back

MANIKGANJ, Nov 23: Sukkuri Begum, who went to Jordan as a female worker, has returned home, experiencing a lot of trouble and torture there.
She hails from Charmastal village under Doulatpur Upazila.
She bought the visa from her cousin for seventy thousand taka. But she was detained in a dark room for 11 months. Sukkuri was not given food regularly. Rice was served every five days. During the rest days she had to have bread. She was raped and forced to prostitution.
The Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj informed the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment after being informed by Sukkuri's husband. Then the ministry took initiative to bring her home with the help of Bangladesh embassy in Jordan.
