Workshop on implementation of child rights charter held in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 7 (UNB): A divisional workshop on implementation of child rights charter was held at the DC's conference room here Thursday.
Women and Children Affairs Ministry organised the workshop in cooperation with Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Office and UNICEF, said an official release.
Additional Divisional Commissioner Asit Kumar Mukutmoni inaugurated the workshop with Deputy Commissioner M Khalilur Rahman in the chair.
Project Director Mostafa Kamal, Local Government Department Director Azhar Ali, UNICEF representative Rifat Bin Sattar, Khairul Alam and Shahnaj Begum spoke on the occasion.
The objective of the workshop was to find out possible solutions for the implementation of child rights charter by identifying its problems and to prepare a complete report on the basis of opinions from all concerned.
The speakers at the workshop also stressed the need for making a firm pledge to implement the child rights charter.
They mentioned different initiatives, including various development activities and formulating laws in implementing child rights charter.
The speakers said children have to be protected from all sorts of social discrimination as well as from torture and trafficking.
Officials from different government bodies and private organisations took part in the workshop.
