World No Tobacco Day will be observed in the country as elsewhere in the globe today (Tuesday), reports UNB.
This year's theme of No Tobacco Day as set by World Health Organisation (WHO) is "Tobacco: Threat to our environment."
The theme is relevant particularly for Bangladesh and other developing countries where 90 per cent of all tobacco production is concentrated, said a press release issued by PROGGA, an anti-tobacco platform.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina have issued separate messages on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.
The President in his message called upon the government as well as civil society members, professional organisations, non-governmental organisations and media to make concerted efforts to save people, especially young generation, from the dangers of smoking and tobacco.
