Young man beaten to death by BSF

JESSORE, Jun 28: A Bangladeshi cowboy was beaten to death by BSF men at Charermath under Benapole land port police station in Jessore Saturday morning.

The dead is Mohammad Sharif (38), son of Md Afzal of Koplauri under Shibganj Upazila in Chapainawabganj.

Apurba Hasan, officer in-charge (OC) of Benapole port police station, said he was supposed to be beaten by BSF members.

The OC said police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital at around 11:00am for an autopsy.

Mostafizur Rahman, commanding officer of 23 Border Guard Bangladesh, said a cowboy was tortured to death along the border. But he was not sure whether he was killed by BSF men.
