Young woman beheaded

A mentally retarded person killed a young woman at his apartment in the city's Segunbagicha area Thursday morning, reports UNB.
Three people, including mother of the alleged killer, were also injured as they tried to resist him.
The victim was identified as Tuli, daughter of Rashid Uddin of village Dakkhin Kotapara under Sarail Upazila in Brahmanbaria district. She had passed LLB from Capital Law College in Mohakhali in the city.
Tuli had been working as an assistant of a senior lawyer.
Officer in-charge of Shahbagh thana Md Rezaul Karim said that the deceased girl, Tuli (22), lived as a paying guest in the apartment of Amin, who is said to be mentally retarded.
Amin, who did not come home for the last three days, returned to his apartment at 8:00 am Thursday and attacked his mother Rokeya Begum and wife with a sharp weapon but his wife managed to escape unhurt.
As Tuli came in front of Amin at that time he chopped her with the sharp weapon, separating her head from the body.
"Amin got down from his flat with the separated head and took it to the street," said a witness.
Two persons were also injured when local people chased him.
He was handed over to police after giving him a good beating. Police arrested Amin and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Hospital sources said the body of Tuli was handed over to her relatives after completion of postmortem in the afternoon.
No case was filed with Shahbagh police station until filing of this report at about 6:00 pm.
