A Dhaka court deferred Wednesday to February 8 the verdict in the sensational Jahangirnagar University (JU) student Zubair killing case, reports UNB.
Judge ABM Nizamul Haque of the Speedy Trial Tribunal passed the order when acting Special Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Taslima Yeasmin Dipa sought time as the seven accused in the murder case could not be produced before the court for security reasons due to the ongoing countrywide hartal enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
On January 28, Judge ABM Nizamul Haque set Wednesday for passing the judgment in the case.
On the day, the court also sent seven accused in the murder case to jail turning down their bail petitions.
The accused are Nazmul Hossain Plaban, Kamruzzaman Shohagh, Mazharul Islam, Muhammad Mahmudul Hasan Masud, Nazmus Sakim Tapu, Shafiul Alam Setu and Abhinandan Kundu.
Zubair Ahmed, an English Department student of JU, was beaten by some BCL activists on January 8, 2012 and he later succumbed to his injuries at United Hospital in Dhaka city the following day.
