Speakers at a consultation meeting Monday said the development organisations should have some standards including accountability for the work on disaster responses.

The speakers made the recommendations while they were addressing a national consultation titled 'National Consultation on Core Humanitarian Standards' held at Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU).

Bangladesh Support Group of the global organisation Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) and the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerabilities Studies of DU jointly organised the programme to mark the National Disaster Preparedness Day

Among others, Pro-vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University Prof Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain addressed the event as the chief guest while Director of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies of DU Dr Mahbuba Nasreen presided over the meeting.
