The High Court asked the Director General (DG) of the Health Directorate Sunday to take necessary steps so that female doctors, nurses and staffs take part in examining the raped women to determine their age at all government hospitals, reports BSS.

A bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-ul Hoque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain issued the order while DG Health Mohammad Nurul Haque appeared before it in complying with a suo moto order issued earlier.

Haque was also granted apology on his plea as he did not comply with the court's previous order to submit a progress report on recruitment of female doctors, nurses and staffs at all government hospitals for checking the female rape victims.

A High Court bench on April 16 last year by issuing a suo moto rule ordered the DG Health to appoint female doctors and nurses at all government hospitals to examine the raped women.

The court issued the rule responding to a newspaper report where it was stated that male doctors were examining the raped women at the hospitals.

The DG health informed the court Sunday that female doctors were given appointment to check the raped victims and also a progress report in this regard.
