BNP senior leader Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan termed on Friday the new budget for FY 2015-16 'fake one by a fake' government, reports UNB.

"Were they people's representative those who placed the budget? They came to power one and a half years back through a voter-less and fake election. They've no right to present the national budget," he said.

Moyeen Khan, a BNP standing committee member, further said, "The current fake regime on Thursday presented the budget. So, it's nothing but a fake budget. I think we don't have any necessity to talk about it."

The BNP leader came up with the remarks while addressing a discussion at the National Press Club.

Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Projonmo Dal arranged the programme marking the 34th death anniversary of BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman.

Earlier, on Thursday, Finance Minister AMA Muhith unveiled a Tk 2, 951 billion (2,95,100 crore) proposed national budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year targeting to achieve a GDP growth rate of 7 per cent.

Moyeen Khan alleged that there is no specific plan and guidelines in the proposed budget to alleviate poverty. "Many mega projects have been taken in the capital city, but about 80 per cent people who live in rural areas have been ignored in the budget. Did you see any proposal was made in the budget to eradicate poverty?

He came down hard on the ruling party men for their assertion that development is more essential than democracy and said it is a universal truth that no development can be sustainable without ensuring the rule of law, human rights and right to express.

Addressing the programme, BNP chairperson's adviser Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury urged BNP leaders and activists to follow the ideals of party founder Zaiur Rahman and spread it to new generation.  "We don't have any reason to be frustrated. People are with us
