MAGURA, Jun 27 (UNB): At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups of local Awami League (AL) over establishing supremacy in Sreepur Uapzila of the district Thursday night.
Awlad Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station, said Abdul Halim, an AL leader and Goyeshpur Union Parishad chairman, and Yusuf Ali, a local leader of the ruling party, had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.
As a sequel to the enmity, a chase and counter-chase took place between the supporters of both the groups over the issue.
At one stage, the supporters of Abdul Halim swooped on the shops of their rivals Shukkur Molla and Yusuf Ali and looted valuables after vandalising those at around 10:00 pm.
Angered by the incident, the supporters of both groups attacked each other, leaving 10 people injured.
