10 more Shibir men held for assaulting AL MP in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Feb 3 (BSS): Members of the joint forces in an overnight drive Sunday arrested 10 more people for their alleged involvement in connection with assaulting Awami League (AL) MP Abu Reza M Nezamuddin Nodovi at a religious function in Lohagora Upazila here.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lohagora thana Mohammad Shahjahan said with this, the total number of arrestees in the last two days to 86.

Joint forces till Sunday in a series of drives arrested 76 Jamaat-Shibir activists from different areas of the upazila for their alleged involvement in the pre-planned attack on Nezamuddin.

Earlier, AL MP Nodovi, elected from Chittagong-15 constituency, on Friday night attended a Siratunnabi Mahfil, an Islamic function, at Chunti Union Parishad's Shah Manjil.

Police filed a case against former Jamaat lawmakers Shahajahan Chowdhury and A N M Shamsul Islam Chowdhury and nearly 3,000 unidentified people for the attack.
