11 injured as BCL factions clash

BARISAL, Feb 28 (UNB): At least 11 people, including three teachers, were injured in a clash between two rival groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Barisal BM College Saturday following an altercation over a trifling matter Friday.
Witnesses said BCL leaders Moin Tushar and Rafiq Serniabat had an altercation over watching television Friday night at Aswini Kumar Hostel.
Following the brawl, a chase and counter chase took place between the supporters of two groups on the campus Saturday morning.
In resolving the problem, Economics department teacher Akhtaruzzaman, Management department teacher Mujibur Rahman and the assistant super of the hostel held a meeting with the rival student groups at about 12:15 pm.
But, the rowdy students again locked in a clash in presence of the teachers, leaving the three teachers and eight students injured.
On information some teachers and top BCL leaders rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
