12 hurt in AL infighting in Jhenidah

JHENIDAH, Oct 21 (UNB): At least 12 people, including two policemen, were injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League (AL) at Katlagari Bazar in Shailakupa Upaizla Tuesday.

Sagir Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shailakupa Police Station, said Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, a chairman of Sarutia union parishad, and Julfiker Kaisar Tipu, a former Chhatra League leader, had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.

As a sequel to the enmity, the supporters of both groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other at Katlagari Bazar around 9:30 am, leaving 12 people injured.
