BARISAL, July 25 (BSS): Barisal Metropolitan Police has identified 13 polling centres as very risky and 50 centres as risky out of a total of 91 centres in the Barisal City Corporation (BCC) polls.

The election to the BCC is scheduled to be held on August 4 next.

The 13 very risky centres were identified as Kaunia BSCIC office, Kaunia Syeda Majidunnessa Secondary School-1 and 2, Dalil Uddin Registry Primary School-1 and 2, Bazar Road Khwaza Mainuddin Chisti Senior Madrasah, Dakkhin Alekanda Nooria Kindergarten, Alekanda Nooria High School, Mathuranath Public School-1 and 2, Sagardi Union Madhyamik Bidyalaya and Sagardi Islamia Kamil Madrasah-1 and 2.

They also identified 18 polling centres as less risky and 10 centres as without risks.

The ten centres without risks are Puranpara Govt. Primary School, Udyan Secondary School-1 and 2, Zilla School, Govt. Girls' High School, JS Secondary Girls' School, Barisal Textile Institute-1 and 2, Upazila Parishad and Tilok Kaladema Primary School.

They have sent the list to the Deputy Election Commissioner of Barisal for taking necessary measures.

Campaign for mayoral election in the city is going in full swing as almost all candidates consider them 'unparalleled' in comparison with their rivals.

All the ten candidates vying for the mayor post are fully confident about their victory and most of the 184 aspirants for 40 councillor posts are over sure about their win.

"All candidates in their campaign, leaflets, posters and personal talks value themselves as the 'best candidate' and none of them want to accept the ground reality that except one mayor and 40 councillor candidates, others should bow their heads down," a voter referring anonymity told the news agency.

Six mayoral candidates are on their hectic campaign in all nook and corner of the city round the clock. However, four new faces, not well known to the inhabitants of Barisal, are remaining absent from all election clamours except media.

Many candidates claimed that they don't see any rival, whereas some others said they felt shy to think anybody as contestant.

Full time campaigners are Ahsan Habib Kamal, Showkat Hossain Hiron, S Sarfuddin Ahmed Santu, Ebadul Haque Chan, Advocate Enayet Peer Khan and AK Azad and are running door to door to attract favours of the voters.

The real change makers are voters, who seemed to be more cautious and intelligent than the candidates and are singing in praise when candidates come to them to seek votes.

The August 4 is the deadline when the candidates would have chance to weigh their self-realisation and know the real judgement of the voters.
