FE Report
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said on Friday leaders of the ruling 14-Party Alliance will be tried at local and international criminal courts for their 'open and deliberate conceited announcements', encouraging extra-judicial killings.
A latest statement, issued by its joint secretary general Salah Uddin Ahmed, mentioned that it has been observed in the recent days that leaders of the ruling alliance and top officials of the law-enforcement agencies are making public announcements of killing the protestors through 'encounter'.
"The possibility of fixing the future of such psychic leaders and officials through lynching and mass curfew cannot be blown away."
The statement also said policemen killed Jatiyotabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader Nuruzzaman Jony in 'crossfire' a few days ago, and then they detained his family members, including his pregnant wife.
Referring to the recent events of arresting the 20-Party Alliance leaders, like Gazipur City Corporation Mayor Abdul Mannan and JCD leader Nishita, it said BNP strongly condemns such heinous moves as well as demands immediate and unconditional release of the political detainees.
The statement also said the present illegal government wants to prolong its rule by creating panic among the people through detention, killing and forced disappearances.
The party also urged the Prime Minister to refrain from all types of repressive mechanism, and step down from her position by accepting the demand of mass people and help re-establish a democratic ruling system.
