'15 EC staff involved in issuing fake NIDs to Rohingyas'

Director General of the National Identity Registration Wing of the Election Commission (EC) Brig Gen Saidul Islam said on Monday some 15 EC staff were involved in providing NID cards to Rohingyas, report agencies.

"We've specific data over how many staff were involved. We're not disclosing their names for the sake of investigation. But the number is not more than 15," he said.

The director general came up with the remarks while speaking at a press conference at his office to inform the primary reports of an investigation committee.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved a regular investigation against seven people, including two Election Commission officials, over the allegations of providing fake NIDs to Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar and Chattogram.
