A clash has erupted in Narail's Lohagara upazila over 'establishing supremacy in the area', leaving at least 15 people injured and several houses vandalised, report bdnews24.com.
The incident has been brought under control after police deployment.
The violence broke out at Matiadanga village under Kotakol union on Thursday in the early hours of Friday, Lohagara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ajit Kumar Roy said.
He added that the situation has since calmed after police intervention.
Citing local residents, he said a long-running dispute over local dominance had been simmering between two local groups known as the Munshi group and the Molla group.
The feud flared up when supporters of current Union Parishad member Abul Kalam Azad and Omar Faruk from the Munshi group became embroiled in a clash with followers of former Union Parishad member Shahidul Islam of the Molla group.
