18 sued over arson attack on Jhalakati land office

JHALAKATI, Mar 13 (UNB): A case was filed against 18 BNP leaders and activists in connection with setting fire to a local land office in Sadar upazila on Thursday.

Badal Khalifa, sub-inspector (SI) of Jhalakati Sadar thana, filed the case Thursday afternoon.Meanwhile, police in a drive arrested four people in this connection.

The arrestees were identified as Wares Ali Khan, chairman of Ponabalia union, his son Anisur Rahman Khan, and two UP members -- Helal Mallick and Shawkat Ali Badal.A gang of miscreants torched the local land office in Ponabalia union early Thursday.
