2 cases filed against ex-Jamaat lawmaker

GAIBANDHA, July 21 (UNB) : Two cases were filed Monday against 23 rajakars, including former lawmaker of Jamaat Moulana Abdul Aziz, in Sundarganj Upazila on charge of killing two freedom fighters during the War of Liberation in 1971.
Anisur Rahman, brother of martyred Freedom Fighter Akbar Ali of Dharmapur village of the Upazila, filed a case against 12 rajakars, including Aziz while Azizul Haq Sarker, brother of another martyred Freedom Fighter of Panchgachhi Shantiram village, filed the other case against another 12 rajakars, also including Aziz, with the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The court directed the officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Thana to record the allegations as First Information Reports (FIRs) and take actions after investigation.
In his case statement, Anisur Rahman alleged that the accused asked former UP member Akbar to go to a Pakistani force camp on October 10,1971.
He was brutally killed when he went to the camp the following day.
