Two organizations demanded on Saturday the arrest of former Planning Minister AK Khandker for what they said sedition charge for distorting the Liberation War history in his book, titled '1971: Bhetore, Baire', reports UNB.
Bangabandhu Foundation and Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad came up with the demand at their respective demonstrations in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
They also demanded the government ban the book and seize all copies from the market. The book, published by Prothoma Publication, was launched on September 2.
AK Khandker, who was the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Armed Forces during the Liberation War, in his book stated that Bangabandhu concluded his historic March 7 speech saying 'joi Pakistan'.
He also criticised the role of the Awami League leadership during the Liberation War, saying that the political leadership was not ready to lead the war.
