NAOGAON, Aug 1 (UNB): Two outlaws were killed in a shootout between RAB and their cohorts at Mirzapur village in Atrai Upazila here early Friday.

The dead were identified as regional commander of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (ML-Lal Potaka) Saiful Islam (45) and his accomplice Naser Ali alias Tara (55).

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB raided the village when some outlaws were holding a clandestine meeting.

Sensing the presence of RAB, the extremists opened fire on them forcing the law enforcers to fire back that triggered the gun battle.

"At one stage the extremists fled the scene leaving behind the bullet-ridden bodies of Saiful and Naser," said a RAB account of the incident.

When they were taken to the Upazila health complex the attending doctors declared them dead.
