22 sued over JL leader Badal murder

CHITTAGONG, Sept 4 (UNB): A case has been filed against 22 people in connection with the killing of Mehedi Hasan Badal, a leader Chittagong city unit Jubo League, youth front of the ruling Awami League.

Mobashira Mishu, wife of Badal, filed the case with Bayezid thana around 10:30 pm on Thursday, said Nurul Akter, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the thana.

Saddam Hossain has been made the prime accused in the case while the name of Shafiqul Islam Shafique, a Dubai expatriate, was included in the case as a mastermind behind the killing.

Mr Badal (40), a local leader of Jubo League, was gunned down by miscreants in front of his residence at Shershah Colony in Panchlaish under Bayezid than of Chittagong city around 10pm on Tuesday.

He had joined Jubo League after resigning as president of Panchlaish unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of Awami League.
