2.52m new power connections by Dec 2015

The government would provide power connection to 2.52 million new consumers by December next year after expansion of 71,136 kilometres new line and capacity enhancement, reports BSS.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid disclosed this in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Thursday, while replying to a question from treasury bench member Abdur Rouf.
He said the government would set up 71,136 kilometre new line along with enhancing capacity and establishing 315 power sub-stations by the end of next year.
The state minister told the House that the government has taken 15 projects with own finance and foreign aid to further boost power supply system across the country keeping in view people's interest.
Besides, the government has undertaken 6 more development projects to increase transmission capability and raise power distribution capacity after their completion in 2017-2018, he said.
