2.6m acres of agri land lost in 11 years

A total of 2.6 million (26,55,731) acres of agricultural land had come under non-agricultural use in rural areas of the country in the past 11 years, reports BSS.

During the period the total area of water bodies used for non-agricultural purposes in rural Bangladesh was 127,679 acres, Dr Abul Barkat told a seminar in the CIRDAP auditorium in the city on Wednesday.

The Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD) organised the seminar on "Decreasing of agriculture land for commercial uses and food security of poor people in rural areas".
