27,59,541 get jobs abroad from Jan 2009 to Sept 2014: JS told

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain informed the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Thursday that 27,59,541 people from Bangladesh got employment abroad from January 2009 to September 2014, reports BSS.
"The number was 13,7,088 during the past BNP-Jamaat government from October 2001 to September 2006," he said while replying to a question of treasury bench member Begum Luthfa Taher.
He said the expatriates sent Tk 88,997.34 crore till October 2014 as remittance, which was Tk 61,587.83 crore in 2008.
He also said that the present government has given priority as per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make more skilled workers to fulfill the required demand in the global job market to help reduce unemployment at home.
